Sometimes people decide to save money of parking machines or parking meters.

Being in a rush oblige people to park in forbidden areas. However, this is a bad driving habit and can cause a great problem.

In the United States, there isn’t a single federal regulation that covers all the parking regulations. Instead, every state has their own laws and regulations about this topic.

Exists many restricted, forbidden or prohibited parking regulations enforced in different jurisdictions. Some of them are:

No Parking Zones:

These areas are completely forbidden and are designated by signals with the “No parking” phrase.

Fire Hydrants:

Parking near to fire hydrants is strictly prohibited to guarantee firemen have unimpeded access to these devices in case of emergencies.

Loading Zones:

These zones are designated for loading and unloading of goods, and are usually near to commercial areas. Be aware that parking in these zones during non-specified hours may result in fines.

Parking Space of a Person with Physical/Sensory Disability:

Without the appropriate access or placard is illegal to park in spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

Bus Stops and Zones:

It is prohibited to park in bus stops or zones which are for public transportation to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Crosswalks and Intersections:

When parking near to crosswalks or intersections is possible to obstruct visibility of pedestrians and drivers, which is also restricted or prohibited.

School Zones:

The restrictions of parking can be enforced near school to ensure children’s safety during drop-off and pick-up times.

As an example, about the fines to pay for offend a parking law or regulation we have New York or Los Angeles, which can have higher fines for parking in prohibited areas than those in less congested areas. In these cities the fines to pay can be from 50 to 100 dollars and can increase significantly depending on the case.
